When calling to report a lost/found pet make sure, even if you first leave your information on a voice mail, that you speak with the Shelter lost/found person or to the "ACO" (Animal Control Officer) .
you should stay in contact everyday to keep you and your lost pet fresh in their minds, don't worry about feeling like your a pest that's what we are there for.
When lost/found pet callers call my shelter I encourage them to call everyday until they found their lost/found pet, I tell them if I don't know you by your first name, your not calling enough.
You should also call the city/town Animal Control Shelters that surround your town, remember the more shelters you contact the better your odds are that you are going to find you lost/ found pet.
Also while on the phone with the Animal Control Shelter ask for their mailling adress so you can send them a lost/found pet poster(you can make lost/found posters on this site for free).
It's better to mail or drop off your lost/found pet posters to animal shelters rather than fax them. Unfortunatly most pets photo's do not come out well on most fax machines..Shelters list of phone numbers in the Connecticut and surrounding states
